Entertainment Estonian style

September is beautiful, as I said, and the weather has been seriously amazing for the past week! So last Sunday we joined so many and did what you're supposed to do this time a year (I'm joking. Of course we go all year through, but autumn does somehow seem to be especially popular) - go in the nature.

I felt like going for a hike someplace nice, like.. in a bog, where else? (Estonia has plenty of bogs. And not much else. The seaside would be another option.) But this time, bog it is. I googled, where would be some nice ones to go.. And following this article in the Estonian tourism portal, we sat in the car and drove off to the Kakerdaja rada. Mr. Husband had been in another one recently with his colleagues, and his boss had said, that you could as well go to the shopping mall, than this Kakerdaja rada. I thought - oh well, probably Estonians, being overly sensitive, meet a few other people on their track and think it's a crowd.
Yeah. No. :D
We had arrived. And we couldn't find a place to park! :D In a forest!!! That was insane. I have experienced something similar in Sigulda, the most popular autumn destination in Latvia, but that is still a town. This was a tiny forest road, to go to one track in the woods. There were hundreds of cars.., apparently everyone had read the same article. :) So we left.

I quickly googled some other tracks nearby and found Kodru raba track not so far away. It started at A.H.Tammsaare (most famous Estonian writer)'s birth home museum. We checked it out rather quickly and then, finally, went to walk in the bog. Of course, here was not a single soul. ;)

The track was narrow, and on the sides of it was wet. (Well, bog.) Adelaide managed to walk on her own for quite a while! She had to concentrate deeply.. And she was a bit scared, when she had to cross little ditches.

We made a little break, after she had stepped off the track a couple of times.

And then she was ready to go in the carrier. She loved it there! :) And why not? A lot better view.

The track was 5 km long, ending at a church. We could see the church tower in the distance. But carrying these children.. We weren't really up for it, especially, as we would have to walk also back. We decided to walk until about the middle of the track, google was saying, that there should be a watch tower. I was quite shocked, when I finally saw it. :D

The watch tower didn't have any stairs, it was a bit bizarre. But at least there was a nice wooden platform in the middle of the bog, so we could make a little break. :) Everyone could stretch their legs, Jasmiina had a little snack.. And we all should have taken a picnic basket with us! Because again and again we see, that it's a huge mistake to go to the middle of Estonia without one. Places to eat out are so impossible to find, and the one you finally find.. is not too good. So next time let's have a picnic. :)
