Last summer days in Latvia

The blog has been quiet, because we had the most amazing end-of-summer weekend! :)

How come end of summer? Yes, here, in Estonia (at least in the North, where we live..) is a total autumn. For a while already. But we went South. ;) Southern girl that I am (for Estonians I am Southern, funny it is, but there actually IS difference in climate, here and 300 km down), we went to my homeland - Latvia!

The weekend was very busy, meeting one friends and other, and my parents as well. But we managed to travel a bit, see some amazing Latvian nature.

Some really magical forests, near Cēsis.. We were looking for some waterfalls, but sadly the water had run out (work of some people, it was a really beautiful place..).

In long time using the wrap again..
And Adelaide was surprisingly happy. :) She had just woken up, and was so interested, looking around to the trees.

Then we went to see Lielā Ellīte, in Liepa, Priekuļi municipality. It's a huge, ancient cave.

On the way to Raunas Staburags, in Rauna. This seriously is my favourite region of Latvia.. Wide fields, huge hills, big oaks, and tiny little rivers..

Next, the Rauna town. It was so cute.. We were pleasantly surprised, how nice little towns there are in the middle of Latvia, so far from the capital. And as it turns out, Rauna is pretty much a starting-point for civilisation in Latvia.

Huge.. Rauna castle ruins. Castle dating back to year 1262. One of the best preserved castle ruins in the country.

And the view to the town itself from the castle tower. The church, also dating back to 13th century.

And finishing the trip with the beautiful springs-waterfalls, Dāvida avoti. The colours are real.

Little traveler.

Our baby is a traveler already at 3 months.. Turns out, not so impossible. Some little adjustments are needed. But as long as we schedule the trip to her awake time/naps, it is perfect. She sleeps well in the car. And enjoys looking around, when awake.

Of course, this is not good for baby's development, as she is physically quite restricted. It would not be the best for the baby to have a lifestyle - in and out of the car all day long - all the time. But once in a while, it's ok.

The positives, she got a lot of communication, with her grandparents and other people. And she is learning to love the nature, history and culture with us.

And now we're home, back in our peace and routine. :)
