Unbelievable! Our baby is 6 months old!

Someone pinch me! Because it truly IS unbelievable.. Maybe for some it's just a number. But when it's your baby.. Who just, it seems so short time, like days ago.. was still inside you.. I can't believe she's growing up so fast. Half a year has gone by in seconds. It's even scary.. One more half a year and she will be one year old.. And couple more and she will be all grown up.

This bigger milestone has really given me some shivers. And made me think and remember about all this time.. Trying to remember her birth and her first days and weeks here, in this world with us.

What's also scary - when I look at pictures, where Adelaide is still inside me, or where she is a couple of days or weeks, or months old - I totally don't recognise her! I really don't know that funny looking baby! :D Adelaide is the one here and now. She has changed so quickly, that there has been no time for those moments to sink in, they have passed by and are already fading from our memory. It's scary, that also these amazing moments right now will fade, when she grows up..

Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing for those moments to come back. I love her more now than ever before, and I'm so super excited for everything that the future will bring! But if I wouldn't be sure, that I can experience those baby-moments a couple of times more in my life, I would freak out. :D

Children really are the most amazing thing.

And after weeks even some beautiful sunshine came out today for Adelaide's birthday! :)

I would have liked to have some real celebration today, but it's workday, plus also Mr. Husband has some late choir practice. Maybe we will invite some friends over at Saturday and have a very little party. However, it's not the same, because since Adelaide is born, I care unusually much exactly about the date, when she was born! :D Today is 8th, and on Saturday will not be the same..

But at least we had a nice breakfast this morning, and took some nice pictures. :)

Cake was ready already yesterday. I had some colorful marzipan from my Mother-in-law, and it was great for decorating a cake for this special day! :) It worked out better than I'd hoped (for the first time), underneath it is a simple, but good chocolate cake.

So hard to catch those smiles! :) But even when they are misty, they are still the best..
So fun to grab the cake! :D Sadly she didn't get to try it yet..

So how is this 6-month-old?

She is super-fun! She really leaps in development.. It seems, that every day she becomes more aware and more social. She "talks", laughs, interacts with us. She still loves the cat more than anyone! She also likes candles and lights. :) It's adorable.. When it's dark in the room, she looks at a candle with big, amazed eyes and talks about it.. (So I respond to her: Yes, that is a candle!..)

She can move around the room really fast. When I bring her to the kitchen and do some cooking myself, she crawls to one open cupboard straight away and empties all of the lowest shelf. (We took away the glass jars, now there is some non-dangerous stuff there. Cat food bowls are hidden too. That's pretty much the only thing I don't let her put into her mouth.) When she is in the living room, she really wants to go to the laptop wires. We have to shield them with a pillow. Last night she tried to climb over the pillow.

She is still pulling herself forward. Her upper body is really strong (it's hereditary, comes from my father..), but she doesn't really use her legs. We have laminate floors, which are not the best for babies, as they are really slippery. She uses the slipperiness to her advantage, sliding herself forward. It happens so effortlessly, that I'm afraid she's not going to crawl at all. (It can totally happen, as there are children, who skip the crawling and go straight from some sort of moving forward to standing up. Babies are classic humans that way - they will choose the easiest way and not bother to learn something, if they don't really have to. It's not ideal, however, because exactly the movement of crawling is very beneficial for a correct physical development.) That's why we bough a carpet yesterday, that will cover at least half of the floor in our living room. She spends the most time there, so she will have to learn to crawl on it.

She grabs and chews still everything. Still drooling a lot. There still are 2 teeth, the (middle) bottom two. She loves everything new.

She is rolling over from back to stomach easily now, not really the other way around (only by accident). She is still rolling through one side only, I'm trying to make her use the other side as well, she seems able to do that too, probably other side is just still easier.

She doesn't sit yet, not also on her side, and doesn't go on her knees yet.

She is getting a bit of food every dinnertime now, still eating on her own with a spoon. (That's the only way she agrees to.) I can't say, how much of food actually ends up in her, maybe a teaspoonful.

She still goes to sleep really late. :) Our rhythm, in short is: around 10:30 waking up, 12:00-16:00 big day nap, then being awake and happy, around 20:00 getting tired and taking a tiny nap while eating or maximum for an hour, but then awake and all fun again, falling asleep only around 23:00 together with us. At night sometimes there are better nights, sometimes worse. Waking up still many times at night.

Oh! :) And one funny thing - she is blowing bubbles! :D Doing funny little thing with her mouth, spraying on everything and everyone around her!

Here is a video of me trying to make it.. Of course, it didn't work! :D So it's quite a long video of her being cute. :)
