Adelaide's 2nd Birthday Party!
Yesterday we had a huge birthday party for Adelaide. :) Huge.. just because, if there is Mr. Husband's family involved (he has 5 sisters!), it just doesn't have a chance to be small. Some of my family, a couple of friends.. And it was truly a wonderful day!
A friend, who I have gotten to know through Montessori (who was invited, but sadly couldn't make it), said, that she would like to see, what is Montessori birthday like.. :D It took me a little bit by surprise.. Of course, I didn't aim for the party to be any Montessori, really.. But I guess we are sort of a Montessori family, as we (in some ways, not all) try to follow some Montessori principles.
We just wanted a really nice and special day. (Similar to last year.) To have our families and closest friends, now also Adelaide's friends, celebrate with us. Adelaide is lucky to have birthday in a beautiful summer, so we hope for the best weather (that's possible in Estonia in June), and - this year we also got it! The weather just couldn't possibly be any more perfect..
We wanted for Adelaide to enjoy her day. So it was quite natural and calm.. No big plans or arrangements, not also any theme really, as she doesn't have any particular interests like that yet. (You could say, that the theme was swing and slide - the birthday gift, that Mr. Husband and my father made for her.) So it was just children having fun and freely playing outside.. Adults catching up and enjoying the day.. Some nice decorations, food and birthday cake.. And songs, this is a singing family, and Adelaide already loves that!
Nothing too pushed and nothing (I hope) that she wouldn't like or that would be too much for her..
And I think that she enjoyed it. :) And we did too.
Hopefully so did the guests. The swing and slide were loved by children.. My father and Mr. Husband sure did an amazing job with those! Adelaide didn't get much of other gifts, a few smaller ones.. Because most of people chipped in for another bigger gift for her - the balance bike, that we are planning to get for her soon. And she got a lot of flowers, and it was funny - everyone was bringing lilies of the valley. :D Almost like it would have been arranged, but it wasn't..
And we took a lot of pictures. :)
