Dipping our toes in Latvian sea

Vacation! Summer! What could be better? :)
We really had an amazing time in Latvia. Somehow everything was working out so well.. The weather was amazing. There really is point to go to Latvia for vacation from Estonia.. It is warmer down there! :D Midsummer's/my birthday was really nice. We visited some of my friends every day, all of the meetings were really nice. Especially with people, who also have children.. Adelaide seemed to enjoy them as well. Even though she is not playing together with other children (nor are they, we were at a little party, where were 4 children of exactly Adelaide's age, and it was kind of funny, how each was doing their own thing.. In a small room, but they were really existing parallely, not interacting almost at all..) But she did seem to like the company of them, and also all of the new and interesting toys. At one place she especially liked the geoboard. (We have wanted to make one for her for a while already, it seems to be quite easy to do-it-yourself, obviously we really must get to it!) She spent a long-long time with it. I showed how to place the rubber bads, and she picked that up quickly, and was making lines. And very interesting - from all of the rubber bands she was choosing just and only yellow ones! Who knows, why.. Actually, I think it's an interesting example of the fact, that children, even very young ones, have their own point and way of doing something. Which should be respected, of course.

All the rest of the time we spent simply hanging out with my parents.. They enjoyed some time with our girls, and Adelaide picked up on some Latvian (I want to write a separate post, an update on our bilingual journey).

Yesterday we came back home. But we made a little trip out of the day - we went to nature park in Līgate, where are some nature trails, as well as sort of a zoo, possible to see a couple of Latvian wildlife animals. Adelaide really enjoyed the track, she walked almost all of the 4 km herself.. She really likes to walk, she likes to collect some rocks or flowers along the way. She was not that much interested in the animals.. We saw, for example, some owls, a squirrel, bears.. And she saw them and was watching, but I guess that at this point a snail or a frog is exactly as fascinating as a bear. Or actually - more! Because they are right up close and jumping, when a bear is just somewhere far and not doing much.

And then we went to have a picnic (Adelaide loves picnics!) in a very special place. The last time we were here was almost exactly 6 years ago, and Mr. Husband proposed to me then and there!

Life of the big sister. :) Adelaide actually likes it and usually wants Jasmiina to touch her more.
Sometimes, if she doesn't want to, she says: ei tohi! (It's not allowed!)

So this is the place, Gūdu klintis. To be here after 6 years was surreal. I remember it very well.. And it's almost the same, we are the same, but the most special are these two little miracles of ours. It's really like our love is multiplying. And back then it would have been impossible to imagine them exactly as they are. But here they are, here we are.. :)

We didn't make a picture of all of us there together, too hard to keep Adelaide at one place, while trying to avoid her falling in the river. :D

We were so exhausted, as we finally headed home after this lovely picnic.. But as we were driving by the seaside, the sun slowly setting, that was the perfect place for stopping. And we didn't want to leave..

We got ice-creams, actually it was Adelaide's very first individual store-bought ice-cream.

This last part was seriously like a moment from paradise.. Perfection.. Happiness.

P.S. Followed by a not so great first day at home.. :D So don't worry, everything is in balance. But it's so important to catch these perfect moments.
