Up and down the hill

Adelaide, soon to be 17 months old, has become a real toddler! With all the typical things this word usually means..

There has been some jump in development in last couple of weeks. She has become.. different. More mature. Smarter. More insightful. With a more distinct opinions and will of her own. More difficult.

Today we took a really long walk.. In spite of the horrible weather. It was raining a bit, dark, wet and cold, as has been all this week. Interesting thing though - exactly during this week of horrible weather I myself have started to enjoy going outside more. :D Being inside right now gets somehow depressing and almost makes my head hurt. It's actually nice to get out in the fresh air..
Well, Adelaide loves to go outside. And today especially.
Our walks are turning more and more into real toddler walks - meaning - she is no more just walking with me somewhere in a straight line, she is becoming more and more distracted, interested in things around, becoming occupied with them, being able to spend many minutes discovering and doing something on her own. I'm just there.. nearby, mostly standing, we don't walk far at all, but we could stay there forever.

Today she found a little hill, a pile of sand.. Cat went up there first, I guess I did too.. and after seeing us going down from there and first time trying it and landing on her face.. She then spent good amount of time, climbing up and down many, many times, not falling anymore, and being really pleased. :) Such a toddler thing to do. Perfecting one's skills.

She liked the leaves, the molehills, and the puddles. Now she has really started liking them a lot! :)

From the look of today's walk, we should be spending all day outside from now on.. She was so happy there.

Other new things..

She has started to notice dirt, being dirty! This is the usual toddler thing at some age.. That they hate getting their hands dirty, hate anything out of order, and so far she didn't care one bit. Suddenly, she does! Now she immediately reacts, if something gets on her hands, if she makes herself dirty while eating.. She almost freaks out and I have to clean up, before she can continue.

She now sees the difference in clean and dirty dishes, clean and dirty clothes (diapers too) and so much more.

Today.. I felt like from a funniest parenting moments show or something. Left her with her snack, which I do often, as she is nicely busy, and I am nearby, usually hearing, if anything unusual goes on.. But this time I didn't hear anything, until I discovered this! This really had never happened to us before.. And she was so happy herself. :)

Which goes weirdly with her cleanness obsession, but soon enough she noticed it and freaked out..

When it comes to indoor activities, then about those trays I made a little while ago.. She actually likes them quite well! Not all of them, but some definitely. She likes the shape sorter, even though not really being able to analyse the shape before trying to put it, she just tries to push them in randomly. The favorite is the different jars with lids. She likes it and is quite good at putting them on.

She is pouring water for herself now always, water really is now available for her that way. And there are almost no spills!

She doesn't choose blocks on her own that much, but when she does or I show them to her, she is quite good at building towers, building from 4-5 pieces..

The top thing is now climbing, stepping and sitting on things.

Dolls are back too. She loves dealing with all the dolls and some of animals, she puts them to sit on chairs, on her bike etc, and gives them food, to drink, she brushes the teeth of the bath duck!.. And is very pleased with herself then.

She is a bit less interested in books now than before, as she has so many other things she likes more now, but sometimes she still can look at some.. But new ones, not anymore the old favorites. For example, she likes the big picture book, with the huge, detailed scenery pictures, we can look at those together for quite a long time now.

If for a while there was not really any progress in her language, then now there seems to be some.. Not very obvious (yet), but she is trying to repeat and say many more words, new ones.

And she loves drawing almost more than anything now, she wants to do that a lot.. Today she surprised me with doing not just random scribbles, but really drawing just straight lines, all straight and all in same direction. Seriously on purpose! Also, she is drawing planes! I guess.. Because she draws something and then points at it and says that a plane is flying..

And.. and! I guess must say, that this is such an exciting time, she is becoming so smart so fast, learning so many new things so fast, that I can't even describe all of them!

And she has 4 new teeth, finally! Some are more, some are less out, but she now then has 12 teeth. :)
