Weekend

This weekend we finally took the trip to visit my Husband's parents. In Hiiumaa, an island.
A classic pic of going-to-Hiiumaa..
Adelaide was a little angel all the way. Sleeping in the car, being cute on the ferry (even though we were going really late..), she doesn't mind being up late at all.

On the ferry (the trip takes 1 h 20 min) we suddenly noticed that we do not have a tiny, helpless baby anymore. :) Last time we were there (in July) she was so little.. I don't even remember, what was she doing. Just happily sleeping in our arms, I guess. This time it was starting to be fun.. :D She was trying to climb on the table, grab everything, eat everything.. Fun.

And one more thing has changed. She has started to treat other people differently! Or how to call it? She now really knows, who her parents are. :) (We don't really have other people, who she would meet very often.) Two weeks ago it wasn't like that yet. On her cousin's birthday party one lady was carrying her around.. And she didn't mind much.
But this time, once her Grandma took her, when we arrived, she wasn't happy at all. And even though she did get more adjusted during our stay there, she still was a bit suspicious.. And was a lot happier, when sitting in my arms. Then she was all smiles and confidence, safe in mommy's lap. :)

Didn't have time to drive around much.. But some sights got coughed from the car window..

Wouldn't mind to stay there a bit longer and enjoy..

Some people with babies at some point have told me, that they felt their baby was enjoying being out of home, seeing new things and new people, that they felt their baby was bored at home. I then always was thinking that they are so wrong, that it's not possible (after all the theory I had read, as for so small baby everything even at home is still new, maybe not to see, but to explore), and that still - being in a calm home environment is better for the baby than being overstimulated somewhere out.

But now I experienced the same thing.. Adelaide seemed to have a lot of fun and it looked like she was enjoying herself a lot! It also felt like she suddenly had a little jump in her development..
She spent 2 hours non-stop on the floor, on her belly, just entertaining herself. Rotating around. And at one point we suddenly noticed that she had moved about 0,5 m forward! In the picture below, if that was her starting position, then suddenly she was at the leg of the table, seen in background, licking it and chewing on the carpet under it! :D We were shocked.

So excited to see, what's coming next!

As for her excitement of new things.. Well, I still feel that calm, not overstimulating environment is best for her.. And she seems fine at home as well.
Maybe one factor that's influencing this, is the same thing that I have noticed before.. Out from home she actually gets more attention and lap-time than at home. While at home, we unconsciously expect her to be more independent and play on her own. Out from home she gets to be carried around a lot more, and as a side-effect - is actually happier. :)

So I'm not exactly planning to go out more. But it's good to know that she likes it.
