Hi :) I'm not sure.. My friend asked the same thing, why does she have hats on so often! :D We usually put the hat on, when we go outside. Either we had recently come from outside, or maybe it was cold inside (end of summer, it can be quite chilly here).
Yes, I maybe agree about the naked butt picture :D
But as for the feet - there is a logic. Feet for babies should be naked, if possible. Because feet are a sensory surface, similar as hands (palms and fingers) - they feel and learn about the world almost as much with the feet, as with the hands. And, for example, a baby will learn to crawl, roll, walk.. better and easier, if the feet will be bare rather than covered with socks or anything else. So I try to keep feet bare, as much as possible. I sooner put another clothing item on than socks.. For example, a hat!
Yes, a hat. Because body loses most of the heat through the head. Especially babies. Putting on a hat helps them to keep their body temperature, and there is no need to put other clothes on then, like a jacket, which would disturb their mobility.
I know in most of the Western world people do not put hats on babies anymore (even in the moments, when I definitely think they should, like when its windy), but interestingly Waldorf talks about this as well, and says that babies should have hats on at all times: "I would venture to say that a baby, and surely a newborn, should have something on her head at all times." (As I found on one Waldorf blog..)
Though I am not putting hats on her because of Waldorf, but because of my inner feeling. :)
I recently read an article about negative influence of hats, especially for newborns – a hat makes a barrier between a mother and her baby so no biochemical transports can proceed. Unfortunately, I can´t find the article. So barefoot shoes for your baby girl in future, right? :-) There are so many ways how to raise our little ones so why not – hats on, socks off :-D
I haven´t forgot :-) Here is an article http://www.bellybelly.com.au/baby/no-hats-on-newborn-babies/ This is not THAT article but it seems to be same :-)
Oh, thanks! :) Really interesting article.. Especially, as they really do put a hat on a newborn in the hospital as a first thing. However, when the body temperature can't be regulated skin-to-skin, it's still ok or even good to put on a hat.
Anyway, my baby hasn't had a hat on indoors for a long time now! :D I have listened. :)
Hello, she is so cute :-) She is wearing a hat on the first photo. Why? I am just curious.

Well, it seems funny to see her with no socks (or a naked butt in another picture) but with a hat :-)
