Back from a shopping trip

I don't know, is it the weather.. the fact, that it's already enough of winter, or what.. But last couple of days have been really low on energy. We are all tired and can't wait for spring already!

But to make the everyday a bit brighter, we went for a little shopping trip today. And as always it happens for parents with little children, we came back with most of the stuff for the baby.

First of all! She got a potty. ;) (A very usual, but cute one.)

This is actually such a controversial subject. Because the spectrum is wide - starting from newborn Elimination Communication (I have written about it before, it means noticing the signs that baby gives shortly before elimination process, and putting her over a sink or potty to do it. We even attempted doing it and were successful a couple of times in the end of summer, but then the autumn came, a lot of clothes on.. And somehow it didn't happen for us.) until the very opposite - I just read an American article, suggesting that it's harmful to start potty training before age of 3 years!!! Which seems sort of insane to me.. Because of stories from our parents, that children of my generation were generally potty trained by age of one. As they didn't have any disposable diapers, they were motivated, and obviously - very able.

So anyway, we have decided to introduce her to a potty. So far we were waiting until she can sit by herself. I have a couple of friends who have started in this age and been quite successful. There is not going to be any "training" yet for sure, just putting her to sit there occasionally, so she gets used to it. I have no big expectations yet, well.. Probably I'd wish she would be able to use the potty by age 2 the latest.

As a proof, we bought also a bunch of cloth diapers. My friend, who had lent me a whole set of Bambino Mio cotton inserts, now finally needs them back, and it was time for us to decide, what to do next. We still have the 12 inserts that we bought ourselves, but that is not exactly enough. The choice was: either to buy more Bambino Mio inserts, Softbums or Bambino Mio Miosolo All-in-ones. As she is so mobile, it's not so comfortable to use Two-in-all's anymore. They still had a sale for them in one Tallinn shop, so we bought all that they had.. 7 Bambino Mio Miosolo's - 5 white, one blue and one ocean green. Now we should be all set.

This one toy, that I have been wanting to buy for her, was also discounted..

I don't know, how this toy calls.. :D But it's a Hape "Double Bubble".
She has liked the balls on a metal string that are a part of our activity triangle. So this toy was a must. Today she checked it out a little, but I'm sure she'll like it once.

Of course, I also got her a couple of cute dresses. :) And a tooth brush! (So far we've used just a cotton swab to clean her two teeth, but I heard from a dentist, that the best is to actually start with the smallest brush. It's more getting used to the process than actual brushing, but that's the point.)

But more from our every day life..

It somehow dawned on me to take her pants off. :D In the autumn it got quite chilly in our home, her feet were cold, so we started to dress her up more. (Even though I am a believer of going barefoot..) However, now she is way more active, and we are heating more too, so we gave it a go.. And she wasn't cold at all. But she was way more comfortable and agile.

We had another little friend visiting.. And it was quite funny, how Adelaide took his favourite train straight away and had no intentions of letting go. :D

And I wanted to show her wooden high chair. Interestingly, she doesn't enjoy being put there as much as in the Britton Hip chair. I guess she feels a bit trapped.. In the Britton Hip she can relax and lie back, it's like a comfortable armchair for her. :) Even though actually it is less ergonomic.

So these were some snapshots from our days.. :) Hope you're having a nice weekend!
